Tasting Note:

Mesmerising. Like a Mosel in its finesse and purity with just a Rheingau hint of melted butter and honey. The most impressive wine in Kesseler's cellar in 2011. Glorious, elegant flavours of white flower, lime, honeysuckle, acacia, mineral and grapefruit. Stunning. Towards the end of the season, as grapes ripened quickly the danger of rain loomed and with high temperatures that meant rot. August mobilised his picking team a week earlier than anticpated so that he could strike at just the right time. In his own words "I am a Mosel Fan, I like lightness and drinkability in the wines," so the grapes had to be pristine and not overripe. A very successful vintage, these are more of a halfway house between Mosel and Rheingau, they retain great lightness of touch to go with the power.
