Tasting Note:

A magical dry wine from the team at Battenfeld-Spanier and Kuhling-Gillot, offered exclusively via the auction. Kreuzberg is a single, extreme, low yielding plot on the border between the Pfalz and the Rheinhessen, where the soils are dominated by chalk and limestone. This is especially evident here, as intense waves of lime, citrus fruit and salted minerals dominate the wine. Ravishing acidity and a chalky structure supports the chiselled, electrifying fruit, finishing bell-clear. First bottled separately in 2017, it is rapidly finding favour as one of the very top dry wines around, apropros its performance at the auction this year. The product of just one barrel, spontaneously fermented and kept on the lees for six months before bottling.
