Tasting Note:

Cool spice, anise, fennel and yellow fleshed plums, but also cinnamon and blueberry. While that sounds like a cake, its actually very fresh and beguiling, with highlights of rose petal and bay leaf that appear with air. A great complexity on the nose here. On the palate, more of that bay leaf complexity, a touch of fresh tea leaf, wild hedgerow berries and a slightly more vigorous, sinewy tannins and acidity than the previous two which suggests it may take a couple more years to fully open up - but it should be more than worth it. Sommerhalde is the coolest of the Huber sites, a vineyard that backs straight onto the forests of the black mountains and so very often feels the cool winds coming of the hills.
