Tasting Note:

Classic, crystalline flavours, alpine-pure notes of grapefruit, lemon, citrus rind, acacia and honeysuckle. An Auslese Goldcap of quite extraordinary poise, elegance and intensity. The Wehlener Sonnenuhr is one of the great vineyards of the Mosel, its extremely well exposed, poor rocky soils produce wines of great mineral power and intensity, they are often very closed when young and need several years in bottle, but they do age beautifully. Harvest was at the beginning of October after an early start to the growing season, the grapes hang time was therefore long, this has resutled in what Katharina Prum considers to be a very fine and charming vintage similar to 2007 and 2009 but more savoury and mineral.
