As is so often the case the poor soils and high slate content of the Sonnenuhr vineyard are immediately on show on the cool, slatey, reserved nose. The palate too is intensely focussed and pure with cool blue slate to the fore followed by lemons, white peach, mirabelle, white flowers and dry stones. Such purity and elegance– a dancing, light as feather Spätlese that effortlessly delivers intense flavours of great precision. Knock out.
