Pungent with beautifully clean and elegant botrytis notes, green apricot and dried flowers; there's something painterly in the way this expresses itself, broad sweeps of intricate flavour and then on the palate, this focussed sweetness and the most succulent flavours of pure apricot, fine flower honey, lime marmelade, quince and candied lemon. You can feel the nobility here as the spiced minerality takes over on the finish, a flourish that bodes so well for the future. A most impressive Auslese.
Only a handful of German wine Estates can boast excellence and consistency over a prolonged period. The wines of Robert Weil have not just been the standard bearers for Rheingau for the last few decades but equal to the top half dozen estates in Germany as a whole who are considered the best. Based in Kiedrich with 75 hectares of Riesling surrounding the fine Estate House and cellars, the vineyard management and wine making are based on precision with 100% focus on quality.
