Tasting Note:

Florian Lauer's wines have for years proven to be unsung gems of the Mosel VDP auction. Offering genuine character and selling for reasonable prices, they were fabulous dalliances in to the upper echelons of the Mosel-Saar-Ruwer. It seems though that most have caught on to this, and the wines become more sought after every year. Stylistically, the Kabinett #5 sits at the drier end of the spectrum, centering more on cooling lime juices, mineral breezes, herbs and spontaneous aromas. Remarkable pure and crytalline, and like Schloss Lieser, cut with impressively salty acidities that burst through the door with a sense of purpose. Superb. The Ayler Kupp is a steep, south south west facing slate vineyard in the Saar Valley.
