Tasting Note:

Dorothee Zilliken was thrilled with her range of auction wines this year. Perfect harvest conditions allowed a full seven days of berry by berry selections, resulting in some of the purest Spatlesen they have ever harvested. The Rausch auction Spatlese sees no botrytis influence whatsoever. Dazzlingly bright pineapple and freshly cut mangoes shape this beautifully luscious yet lively Spatlese. Subtle notes of slate and smoke add complexity. Fermentation stopped at 115g/L residual sugar, high for a Spatlese, and more akin to an Auslese in its mouthfeel. Bursting with flavour and character it will age for decades, if you can resist the temptation. Willpower required!
