Montepulciano

A red Italian wine grape variety that is most well-known for its use in the widespread Montepulciano d'Abruzzo wines. The grape is commonly planted in central and southern Italy but is rarely found in the north due to its's tendency to ripen late - it can be rather "green" if harvested too early. Montepulciano can produce deeply coloured, highly fragrant wines, with moderate acidity, buoyant flavour profiles and bold alcohol levels.
