Roter Veltliner

Roter Veltliner is an ancient Austrian cultivar, planted mainly in Wagram and a handful of other Austrian wine regions. it is used to make spicy, full-bodied white wines with fresh acidity that develop nutty characters as they age. As suggested by the variety's name, the berries redden as they ripen – a trait shared to a lesser extent by other aromatic varieties such as Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer.
