Tasting Note:

A single vineyard Cru in the Serralunga commune that used to go into the regular Barolo, but which Azelia started bottling up separately from the 2003 vintage. Aged like the normal Barolo, in pre-used large Slavonian oak botti and smaller barriques. The vines are now 40 years old. This has a very strong character that consistently comes out year after year, dense black fruits and liquorice spice in typical Serralunga fashion. The 2006 is true to type and faithful to the style of the vintage, too, being very powerful and punchy. Impressive brooding fruit and structure, big-framed flavours of currants, bramble, undergrowth, liquorice, and moscavado sugar, with a bright refreshing streak of red cherry highlights.
