About Do Zenner

The maritime climate here means that the Nero d’Avola grape benefi ts from the cooling Mediterranean sea breezes, allowing a vivacious acidity and primary fruit flavours to build up. Since the vineyards were purchased by the Zenner family, heavy investment, hard work in the vineyard, modern thermo-controlled fermentation equipment and a great winemaker in Salvatore Foti, have culminated in a string of highly successful vintages.

Appellation: Sicily

In the baking Sicilian sun respite is found from the heat at alitude. On the sundrenched volcanic slopes of Mount Etna heat is mitigated by elevated vineyard sites that provide refreshing air currents and positively cool nights. A relatively new region in terms of high quality production, producers such as Tenuta delle Terre Nere are proving what can be achieved with Burgundian treatment of grapes such as Nerello Mascalese. These are wines that need to be tasted to be believed offering the aromatic qualities of Pinot Noir alongside some of the backbone of Nebbiolo.

Grape Type: Nero d'Avola

A top quality red grape variety indigenous to Sicily producing intense, age worthy reds that have rich sensual plumy fruit flavours together with a high natural acidity. Do Zenner’s is a prime example.
