Tasting Note:

From the Marenca Rivette sub zone of Serralunga 370 metres above sea level. South-south west facing, the sun-blanched soils here are compact clay with a high limestone content. The resulting wine is dark ripe and complex, darker and deeper than the Conteisa. Deep, fine layers of hedgerow berry, cassis, mineral and liquorice expand across the palate. A chalk mineral quality returns, cleansing and refreshing the palate after a long finish. Powerful and broad-shouldered but not without tone and finesse. A sophisticated, textured and suave Barolo of great nobility. Stunning. Fermentation and maceration is for 3 weeks followed by 24 months in oak barrels - one year in tonneaux and 18 months in large casks.
