Tasting Note:

A simply wonderful nose of tiny berry fruits, undergrowth and earth. Compact compact dark fruit, cherries and touches of leather, powerful racy but less tannic and austere than the 2006. The palate continues to develop, wonderfully refined characteristics of dried flowers, minerals, spice and undergrowth . So sophisticated and layered yet so bright and airy. Stunning. A selection made in the cellar that often, but not always, comes from the same vineyard parcels within Cascina Francia. 2008 was the product of a very late harvest, 28th to 30th October, one of the latest in the last thirty years. Aged already for 6 years in a large old oak “botte” this will need another good 5 to 8 years before being approached in around 2020 to 2025.
