Tasting Note:

Thanks to early hail 20% of the production was lost in 2010, only 7,000 bottles were made. Such a shame as this is truly one of the great vineyards of Barolo. The 2010 has a presence and a length of flavour, it may not be revealing all now but there is a sense of plenty more to come. Bold flavours initially but it keeps its shape and line well, gripping fine tannins melt into autumn fruit, cherry, velvet, dry stones, earth and spice flavours. Incredibly long, a sleeping giant. Aged for three and a half years in large Slavonian casks. Situated in Serralunga Vigna Rionda is one of the great vineyards of Barolo, the high chalk content and iron rich subsoil make for complex age-worthy wines.
