Tasting Note:

Compact and brooding as usual but impressive nonetheless with a distinctly velvety character. A very complete example of Barolo with an emphasis on spicy dark fruit, smoke and a strong mineral component whilst also showing the lively and vibrant character of the vintage, there is even a juicy hint of red fruit that you don't normally find in this wine. Long, deep and juicy. This is what the Scavinos call “Cannubi Cannubi”. (Their parcel is at the very heart of the Cannubi vineyard with a limestone and sandy soil and south-east exposure, lending the wine a combination of silky fruit and structure.) Cannubi is one of the historic crus of Barolo, in fact such was the fame of the vineyard in the past that wines here were sold as “Cannubio” before Barolo as a defined vineyard region even existed.
