    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note

Less ethereal than the Villero, more earth-bound but honest, fleshy and generous. Strawberry and a touch of sun ripened tomato, some cinnamon spice and undergrowth notes. Robust tannins and a broader in mouthfeel, finishing on juicy mouth-watering ferrous notes. A plot within Altenasso. A lower vineyard with clay limestone facing west /south west. Aged for three years in large used oak casks.

The 2016 Barolo Garblèt Sue' is laced with bright red small berry fruit, wild flowers, sage, mint, star anise, apricot and blood orange. In 2016, the Garblèt Sue' is incredibly sensual, with finer tannins than are the norm. A range of floral and savory notes add striking aromatic lift and exotic perfume. This is the most polished vintage of the Garblèt Sue' I can remember tasting. As always, the Garblèt Sue' is marked by a very obvious nervousness in its tannins, but the 2016 also has more than enough fruit to balance things out.
