    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note
    Marco Marengo, Barolo, 2013

Brilliant, vivid flavours, light on its feet, pure and clear yet with great length of flavour. There is a distinctively La Morra character to this, ethereal red berry fruits and fresh herbs, gentle notes of spice and sweet juicy strawberries. A stunningly elegant ‘regular’ Barolo that is a blend of wine from Crus vineyards predominanty in La Morra including Coera, Roncaglie, Boiolo and Fossati. The wine is aged for 24 months in 20% new oak barriques.

Marco Marengo's 2016 Barolo is forward, succulent and very easy to like. Sweet tobacco, orange peel and exotic spice notes give the straight Barolo lovely aromatic complexity to play off its mid-weight structure. This is such a pretty and expressive entry-level offering. Juicy, open-knit and inviting, but with good tannic grip beneath that gives the wine its sense of energy.
