    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note

A great vineyard planted with old vines dating back to 1942. Aged for one year in barriques and a year and a half in large french oak cask. A monumentally sophsticated wine. Sheer class. High-toned ripe red berry fruit aromas, this is packed with juice and flavour, notes of bramble, cherry, sloe and damson with a strong mineral and rock salt dimension. This is powerful, sophisticated and for the long haul. A modern classic.

The 2001 Barolo Riserva Rocche dell'Annunziata is huge and seamless from start to finish. The wine totally envelops the palate with masses of dark red fruit, roses, spices, and mint, all supported by nearly imperceptible tannins. The volume and shape of the 2001 is simply breathtaking. This is Scavino's most vibrant 2001. It is also his most polished, refined Barolo.
