Tasting Note:

Forthcoming, immediately attractive floral qualities, very open and fruity. A vineyard perfectly matched to the vintage - offering that mouth-covering Pira breadth and body aligned to the cool freshness of 2014 which has added focus and precision to the wine. Expressive, sweet strawberry and rosehip fruit, broad and generous but with lovely definition and finely-etched chalky tannins. A particularly successful, high-pitched Pira. Facing Serralunga, a south east exposure, Pira is the lower part of the famous Rocche di Castiglione cru and is a monopole of the Roagna family. The soils here are a complex mixture of sand, clay limestone and blue marl. The vineyard exposure gives the wine that important underlying freshness. Vinified for 60 days on the skins before ageing for 5 years in large used wooden tanks.
