Roberto Voerzio

Region:

Italy

Appellation:

Barolo

Grape Type:

Nebbiolo

Barolo, Sarmassa, 2014

Tasting Note:

Crisp, crunchy fruits mixed with earthier, warming notes of spice. Touches of undergrowth, hedgerow berry, cinnamon and cedar. A broad, textural style of Barolo. Only 400 magnums were made. A very small plot next to Cerequio situated at 220 to 240 metres altitude. As the Voerzios have tiny holdings here there is not enough wine to fill the large casks so, unlike the other crus, the wine is aged only in small oak barriques, 25% of which are new.
