Barolo, Rocche dell Annunziata, Riserva, 2013

Tasting Note:

Bricco Francesco is forty year old parcel at the top of the Rocche dell Annunziata vineyard situated at 350 metres above sea level. The highest, most exposed (south west facing ) part of the vineyard has a higher proportion of limestone in its clay soils here than in other parts and it typically yields refined, complex age-worthy wines. After forty day post fermentation maceration the wine is aged for three years in 30hl Slavonian oak casks. A wine of accentuated minerality. Chalky, stony notes compliment the wild strawberry and bright cherry fruit, whilst the balsamic character is even more emphasised here than in the regular bottling. A wine of class, sophistication and ageing capacity.
