Deep, rich and savoury nose. Brambly cassis fruit and herb flavours on the palate with a gravelly smoky note. Married to the baritone flavours is a lovely freshness that lifts the wine and prolongs the finish. Layered but super precise and alive. A magical Duemani, as balanced and sophisticated as the 2010 but perhaps even finer and more energetic. Cabernet Franc seems to have found a new home, on the Tuscan coast. Duemani’s owners Elena Celli and Luca d’Attoma were the first to realise the potential of this grape here and produced a 100% Cabernet Franc, named after the estate. Now this trend seems to have caught on with others in the region doing the same. Biodynamically farmed. Fermented and aged for 18 months in 80 percent new oak. Rarely more than 6000 bottles are made.

The 2016 Duemani is a powerful and explosive wine. Dark red cherry, tobacco, cedar, plum, dried flowers, leather and licorice all race out of the glass as this rich, dense Cabernet Franc shows off its personality. Aged 20 months in French oak, the 2016 is a wine of great power and density. I would prefer to drink it on the young side, to take advantage of the wine's superb depth and intensity. This is an outstanding vintage for the Duemani.
