A steep and exceptionally stony vineyard that produces wines of electric line and steely intensity, more stones and mineral than anything resembling varietal Sauvignon Blanc. In 2014 the Pinard Chene Marchand was rated the best in the world by an influential French Wine magazine and there's little qualitatively to separate their top cuvees. If anything Petit Chemarin is sleeker, more intense, more focused - the most crystalline and rocky in the range capable of great ageing. In 2019, the 2014 is just starting to reveal itself fully.
