Grape Variety:

Pinot Noir

Pinot Noir, Block 3, Central Otago, 2017

Tasting Note:

A distinctly aromatic wine, floral and red cherry notes mixed with incense and dried herb. Open-knit, seductive but slender in shape. Fresh herb-infused red berries, an excellent sapidity and salinity keeping the sweet silky fruit lively and fresh. Sensual and sleek through to a long finish. On style this is poles apart from Block 5. The Pinot clone is different, for a start, here the vineyard is planted with a swiss clone that imparts a herbal twang to the wines. The loess/limestone soils are less clayey too than Block 5 giving a much more delicate, expressive wine. Fermented with 25% whole bunches and aged for 13 months in a quarter new burgundy barrels.
