Quinta De Vargellas, Vinha Velha, Vintage Port, 2017

Tasting Note:

2017 sees the return of the Quinta do Vargellas Vinha Velha; the old vines bottling. Only the 8th ever release, the VV is a wine of majestic richness, tannic grip and violet perfume. Low yields but a higher proportion of different grape varieties. Violet liqueur on the nose gives way to deep sultry blue fruit, flowers and black liquorice, dried herbs and sweet earth. Deep, dark and concentrated, thickly textured but so fine and long. This is a super smart, sexy style of wine.
