    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note

Almost half of the final Warres blend comes from grapes grown in the high Quinta da Cavadinha vineyards. This, the Symingtons believe, goes some way to explaining the perennially elegant and finessed style of this port. In 2011 there were a mere 3000 cases produced of this violet and orange peel scented beauty. On the palate the floral qualities continue, joined by beautiful red berry, campari, morello cherry notes, a mineral seam and a really sweet fruit core with a touch of mint on the finish. There is plenty of depth to this yet it remains resolutely not a blockbuster. Absolutely lovely.

    Stephen Tanzer,

Bright ruby-red. Slightly high-toned aromas of blackberry, bitter chocolate, violet and licorice. Lush on entry, then densely packed and sweet in the middle, with fruit-driven flavors of kirsch, black raspberry and cassis nicely support by sexy oak tannins. Surprisingly dry and classic on the finish, with harmonious acidity giving the wine terrific balance.
