Tasting Note:

Mont-Redon have some of the greatest terroir in the region, set to the north of the village of Châteauneuf, spread across a large area of fabulous clay limestone soils littered with the heat-radiating galet stones. The wine is made in an enormously drinkable style, harvested ripe but always with a twist of freshness, de-stemmed, very gently extracted and aged in used oak barrels. The usual blend is Grenache (65%), Syrah (15%), Cinsault (10%), Mourvèdre (5%) and Counoise Muscardin Vaccarèse (5%). The 2009 is as open and fruity as one would expect, a typical Mont- Redon charmer, delicious red fruits burst out of the glass ripe, warming and generous, juicy damson and griotte fruit, as ripe as the 2007 and as intense but a different profile, less black fruit, as ripe as this is there is wonderful lift and brightness to the finish.
