Tasting Note:

Cool crushed berry fruit character with a fine tannic grip. Powerful, long and fine-tuned, this always has a touch of austerity but there is plenty of fruit to match. There is a guiding tannic backbone here, but if anything this is more fragrant, open and immediately friendly than usual at such a young stage. Very serious Côte-Rôtie. Grandes Places is a fabulous, single vineyard in the Verenay commune planted with 75-year-old “Serrine” vines, which is the traditional Syrah of Ampuis. The wine is aged for 24 months in 30% new oak and is bottled without filtration.
