Châteauneuf du Pape, Cuvée de Capo, 2016

Tasting Note:

Exotic and heady, strong fruit liqueur flavours of kirsch and creme de mure. R rich with a sucrosity and voluptuous warmth to it. The sweet fruit fuses with herbal and sandalwood notes to give some complexity and dimension. An out and out blockbuster. Opulent and hedonistic, verging on decadent. A special selection of 100 year old vines coming predominantly from La Crau. The blend is dominated by Grenache but comprises all 13 permitted Châteauneuf varieties. Fermented the traditional way, lightly pressed whole bunch in concrete vats followed by a minimum 18 months in large old. wooden cask, bottled without filtration. 80% Grenache 10% Syrah 5% Mourvèdre and the rest co-planted other permitted varieties, in essence a similar blend to the Reservée. Less than 1000 cases are made.
