Chateauneuf du Pape, Le Bois Pointu, 2016

5 cases
Equiv. £88.33 per bottle

Tasting Note:

A striking wine and totally different to any other Châteauneuf du Pape that we taste. The nose is awash with scents of rose and ripe strawberry. The palate is equally fruity and elegant, the small garriguettes and red forest fruit flavours seasoned with the slightly twist of pepper and a warming fruit liqueur note. Sensual, floral and expressive, a lively freshness adds a welcome touch of astringency to the otherwise sleek and free-flowing fruit. Stunning. Production is circa 3000 bottles were made. Ageing is part in tank and part oak demi muid barrels. 15% fermented with whole bunches. There is more Counoise in the blend this year from Le Pointu (a fine vineyard of sandy soils in the Rayas/Nalys sector) in this, now that new plantings have come on stream, as well as a tiny bit of Mourvedre Cinsault and Bourboulenc, but the blend is dominated by Grenache.
