Tasting Note:

Certainly less developed and expressive aromatically than Chapoutier’s other whites, closed initially – which manifests itself in the fact that the oak is more obvious than the other Ermitages blanc despite the elevage being the same, but a little aeration reveals a Grand wine indeed. You go up several levels in finesse here as much as you do complexity, which is always a little hallmark of greatness. Focused power, lively crystal clear and mineral, great length of flavour. This offers both range and precision with its flavours of salts, stones, greengage, citrus flower and zest, and richer touches of crushed almond too. Lively, complex and intense. Exquisite. Made from a selection of Chapoutier’s oldest Marsanne vines (up to 100 years old) situated behind the chapel at the top of the hill where the granitic soils are shallow and poor. The most structured and intense of Chapoutier’s whites.
