Tasting Note:

A much tighter, more chiselled shape to it than the La Landonne. Less velvety but brighter and more lifted. High-toned floral notes of violet coupled with rich cassis flavours and a warming touch of creme de mure and dark chocolate. Strict, quiet and taut initially, the warming sun-soaked fruit and cooling minerality soon come to the fore. There is no doubting the intensity, complexity and high quality definition on show, here, and you get the sense that this will flesh out gloriously over time. A wine of power, poise and composure,. A plot of 45yo vines planted on whiter, more limestone soils than the La Landonne, giving a more strict style of wine but with finer-cut tannins and shape. Fermented with 100% whole bunches and aged in large demi-muid casks, a maximum of 10% of which are new.
