Tasting Note:

100% Sémillon. Located 330-360m above sea level in Franschoek. An old field selection of Sémillon Gris, Rose and Blanc, planted in 1936. In general in the Cape there is a tight picking window, especially in a warm year, and Chris only came to understand in 2015 that it would be better to wait a few extra days and go for full ripeness with the Sémillon as it has thick skins. A more baroque wine with deep floral notes, butterscotch, apricot and mango, rose water. The 2017 is atypically ripe but is held together well and will delight lovers of floral and aromatic wines. Raised in 5th fill barrels. A blend of two parcels: one on the top of the slope for power and the other mid-slope for finesse.
