Tasting Note:

The 2017 Elpidios is significant as it finally realises David & Nadia’s dream to have Grenache as the lead variety in both of their core red wines. 31% Grenache Noir, 30% Syrah, 19% Carignan, 10% Cinsault, 10% Pinotage. The components are fermented separately using an average of 50% whole bunch fermentation and gentle extractions, from a total of eight vineyards, primarily granite based but not exclusively, including young vine Grenache that they have planted. Aged for a year in large format barrels and held back for a further eighteen months in bottle before release. Lifted and aromatic on the nose, with pure red fruit and flowers, ethereal in nature with a clear undertow of deeper plum and stony graphite-infused spicy berries. Finishes salty. Without doubt this is the finest Elpidios to date.
