Tasting Note:

Shale soils. An anomaly on the Paardeberg where the majority of vineyards are granite based. Planted in 1985 so not quite qualifying as an “Old Vine Project” wine, but stuffed full of character and tension, with a flinty tension, mineral driven with white stone fruit, pear and a salty reverberating acidity. Compact and tense but with mid-palate richness, it needs time to unwind but offers a sleekness and stoniness that the other two don’t have. Wonderful stuff.
