Chenin Blanc, Western Cape, 2017

  Flotsam & Jetsam

Chenin Blanc, Western Cape

From the superstar producer behind Cartology comes this Chenin Blanc, the product of dry-farmed bush vines from across the Stellenbosch region. Raised in a combination of barrel and concrete eggs, it offers up simple, creamy stone fruit destined to be enjoyed in the garden. For anybody seeking an introduction to the Chris Alheit style of winemaking, this is the perfect place to start.

Contains Sulphites.

About Flotsam & Jetsam

Flotsam & Jetsam is a side-project of Chris and Suzan Alheit. Produced from mostly Stellenbosch fruit, they offer a wonderful introduction to the Alheit style of bright, creamy fruit and vivid, jostling acidites. We fell in love with the straight Cinsault, one of the most attractive and refreshing examples of this variety we can recall.

Appellation: Western Cape

The Western Cape encompasses all of the major wine regions of South Africa. Within this classification is the Cape Winelands, itself made up of the most prominent regions, namely Stellenbosch, Constantia, Franschoek, Paarl, Robertson and Wellington.

Grape Type: Chenin Blanc

Now widely planted across the world (notably in South Africa), Chenin Blanc is a white grape variety native to the Loire Valley where it produces a range of wine styles; sweet, dry and sparkling with complexity, depth and often longevity. In the middle Loire, Chenin Blanc is used for Anjou, Montlouis, Saumur, Savennieres, Vouvray, and Coteaux du Layon and Quarts de Chaume wines.
