Tasting Note:

The 2004's from Bodegas Aalto are their best wines yet. It was a near-perfect growing season which started late and ended early, and so protected the vines from the vagaries of spring and autumn in Ribera del Duero. Officially classified as "excellent" by the area's Consejo Regulador, the vintage offered Mariano Garcia and his team the best opportunity yet to realise the full potential of their carefully selected vineyards and rigorous vineyard practices.

Produced as usual from only 90+ year-old vines in the best vineyard parcels (PS stands for "pagos seleccionados") the 2004 Aalto PS has an astonishing depth of colour and great intensity on the nose. Powerful yet beautifully refined, the balance and elegance of this wine are underscored by a fruit character that is notably more restrained than it's sibling. With malolactic fermantation in oak, and aged for 32 months in 100% new French oak, this 100% Tempranillo cuvée will age effortlessly and mature into one of the finest wines produced in Spain in recent years.
