Tasting Note:

The 2019 is a bright, lifted and aromatic La del Vivo, riper and more expressive than the stricter 2018 but with more subtlety and floral nuance than the more exuberant 2017 and 2015 vintages. White honey, jasmine and clear green tea notes lend a heady and elegant feel to the wine, with depth supplied by a trace of pineapple, red apples and stone fruits on the finish. Blossomy but with a fresh stoniness and wispy smoke note too - this is, as always, an intriguing and thoroughly delicious Godello that has really found its groove in recent years. 95% Godello with 5% Dona Blanca from the La Poulosa vineyard, planted on clay soils, plus a tiny part from Las Villegas, the source of Ultreia de Valtuille, where the soils are limestone dominated. The vineyards were planted in 1936 and 1925, respectively. Spontaneously fermented and aged in 2,000L fuder and one 500L neutral French cask. No battonage or racking and blended and bottled after 12 months.
