critic reviews

95/100Jane Anson,Robert Parker Wine Advocate

Ready to enjoy at five years old, smoothed out tannins, softly spiced plum, red pepper, savoury with freshly cut herbs and violet aromatics. Good momentum through the palate, touch of smoked oak without being overpowering. Jean-Claude Berrouet consultant working with owners Marcos and Carlos Yllera and winemaker Montxo Martinez. Winery at the meeting point of Duero valley, Cuco valley and Esgueva valley. Aged in French oak barrels and amphoras, 25% new oak.

97/100Joaquin Hidalgo,Vinous

The 2020 Vivaltus from Ribera del Duero was aged up to 12 months in barrels and amphorae. Hailing from a vintage with sufficient rainfall, the 2020 delivers nuanced elegance. The nose is slightly reductive, combining wild herbs, red and black fruit and delicate lavender. The palate is smooth, with fine, lightly gripping tannins and an exceptional depth of flavor. A lightly mentholated finish adds complexity. Layered and supremely refined.
