About Bouvet-Ladubay

Bouvet-Ladubay is one of the oldest sparkling wine producers in Saumur, Loire Valley. Since 1851 it has been preserving the family traditions and know-how. The limestone subsoil, the mild climate and the excellent drainage of the clay are ideal for the cultivation of Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc creating the natural acidity needed to produce well-balanced white and rosé sparkling wines. The second fermentation takes place in a bottle to create elegant tiny bubbles.

Appellation: AOP Saumur Brut

Saumur Brut was one of the first designated Appellations in Loire Valley. The sparkling wines of this AOC are produced exclusively by traditional method with the second fermentation taking place in a bottle.

Grape Type: Chenin Blanc

Now widely planted across the world (notably in South Africa), Chenin Blanc is a white grape variety native to the Loire Valley where it produces a range of wine styles; sweet, dry and sparkling with complexity, depth and often longevity. In the middle Loire, Chenin Blanc is used for Anjou, Montlouis, Saumur, Savennieres, Vouvray, and Coteaux du Layon and Quarts de Chaume wines.
