About San Simone

The town of Porcia lies in the heart of Friuli Venezia-Giulia’s Friuli DOC Grave viticultural area, where the Cantina San Simone lies. The Brisotto family have been owners for four generations, fruit of the wine-growing traditions of a family rooted in a deep love of and named the estate after a small 14th-century church dedicated to San Simone opposite their original winemaking facility, now the site of the family home. The Brisotto family, motivated by their conviction that good winemaking begins in the vineyard, invests a considerable proportion of its resources in its vineyards, supporting viticultural practices based on low yields, achieved through a higher number of vines per hectare/acre and lower number of buds per vine. They fully capitalise on the clay limestone soils and cool, long ripening season of Friuli’s prime Grave DOC zone. Vivacious, exciting wines from North Central Italy that boast no shortage of complexity or character.
