Former sommelier, caviste and wine journalist Hervé Bizeuil established this estate of 7ha in Vingrau in the Roussillon in 1999, converting his garage into a small winery to be ready for his first vintage. The vines span accross a number of differing terroirs accross the Roussillon, as much as 15 km apart from each other, the varying exposures and myriad of subsoils from granite to limestone make for a thoroughly unique and consistent quality. Old vines ( up to 100 years old in some sectors) hand picking, a viticultural philosophy that is respectful to nature and careful vinification are all ley to the extreme heights of quality that the wines can hit. Grenache, Carignan, Syrah, Grenache Blanc and Grenache Gris make up the majority of the plantings. The wines are aged in oak barriques for at least a year and are bottled without filtration. Hervé has succeeded in establishing these as some of the most sought-after wines in Southern France.
The appellation within Roussillon which in theory designates the regions finest wines and can only be used for reds.
