Señorío de San Vicente, Rioja, 2007

  Senorio De San Vicente

Señorío de San Vicente, Rioja

This is a great cuvee from the fabulous La Conoca single vineyard. 100% Tempranillo “Peludo” (“hairy” in English) which is a special, very low yielding clone of Tempranillo, only one kilo of grapes is produced per vine. A subtle, nuanced, almost Burgundian Rioja, brimming with cool fruits, spices and herbs. Wonderfully elegant, fresh and fragrant, layered and complex but not rich or heavy, silky ripe summer and autumn fruits, brambles and cherries with complex tobacco leaf and mocha touches, really cool and composed, great clarity and purity with a long moreish finish.

Contains Sulphites.

About Senorio De San Vicente

This is the flagship estate of the Eguren family. The estate comprises one single 18 hectare vineyard, Finca la Canoca, planted with the high quality Tempranillo peludo clone on limestone clay soils. The vineyard is run as organically as possible and an exhaustive manual harvest is carried out, combined with a severe selection in the winery. Minimal extraction and judicious ageing in French and American oak make for a modern style of Rioja.

Appellation: Rioja

Spains most famous wine growing region is seeing something of a revolution. A band of new producers are shunning the traditional methods of production in a effort to gain greater purity of fruit, less dominant oak influence, and individual terroir characteristics. The results are wines that have the ability to age and improve in bottle, that have finesse, character and real elegance.
