Vadio, Bruto NV Bairrada – 17pts
Made in a solera system started in 2007. This has wines from 2007 to 2019 with about 30% of the youngest vintage.
Deep, creamy aroma, more creamy than toasty. Perfect balance between freshness and the rounded smoothness of all that time on the lees. Really youthful yet has the depth of the solera multi-vintage blend. (JH) 13.5%

Vadio, Rosé Bruto 2019 Bairrada – 16pts
100% Baga.
Subtle red fruits. Victoria plum (the orange-skinned ones). Sour cherry on the palate, tart and refreshing. Perfect aperitif. Attractive slightly chalky texture. (JH) 12%

Cizeron, Valpaços 2020 Trás-os-Montes – 17.5pts (on shipment due-in November 2022.)
A new wine. Field blend of gobelet-trained centenarian vines (picked from within a vineyard that has both red and white varieties). Mainly Gouveio, Malvasia plus Bastardo Branco and Chasselas. Barrel-fermented with 12 months in neutral oak.
Aromas of pear, yellow plum, fresh herbs. Lightly smoky/stony. Powerful, intense ripe pear and stone fruit on the palate. Mouth-filling fruit and terrific acidity with a long, determined mineral finish even with all this fruit flavour. (JH) 13.8%

Cizeron, Cinetica Loureiro/Arinto Reserva 2020 Vinho Verde – 17.5pts
A 50/50 blend, barrel-fermented, but not blended until bottling.
Creamy mealy overlay from the oak with the perfume of the varieties still showing through. Bay leaf, lemon and lime. So creamy and caressing on the palate and with fabulous acidity. Intense, mouth-watering and so full flavoured, pure and creamy. The creaminess a perfect foil to the high acidity. (JH) 12.5%

Textura, Textura da Estrela 2020 Dão – 17pts
Encruzado, Bical, Sercial. Fermented spontaneously and aged in 2,500-litre oak.
Inviting stony/mineral aroma with notes of herbs, citrus and crushed rocks. Pure citrus/cedar intensity made more complex by a light chalky texture. Pure, bone dry, long with a mouth-watering finish. (JH) 12.5%

Textura, Textura da Estrela 2018 Dão – 17pts
Mainly Jaen, Touriga Nacional and Alfrocheiro.
Scented with cranberry and raspberry, a touch peppery. Peppery freshness on the palate, too, with powder-fine chalky tannins. Elegant, refined texture with such vibrant fruit. Long and pure. (JH) 13%
