We are delighted to present the oldest single malt ever to have been released from this remote distillery, the Talisker Bodega 41 Year Old. An extraordinary liquid, it has been expertly finished in Manzanilla Sherry casks from Delgado Zuleta, the oldest Sherry producer in the famed Sherry Triangle.
For nearly 200 years Talisker has been producing consistently fine whiskies. The second release from their Bodega series is the 1978 41 Year Old – with just 2,000 bottles produced to satisfy global demand. Retaining the unmistakable character of Talisker, it combines the wilds of Skye and the warmth of Spain. The Sherry experts from Delgado Zuleta, with whom Talisker had been trading in the 1900s, hand-picked six exceptional casks for finishing. Each had once held the Bodega’s flagship wine La Goya, a very fine Manzanilla aged in casks of more than a century old. The result is a remarkably rich whisky. The nose carries the sweet fruitiness of sultanas and orange peel framed by sandalwood, with a tang of salty sea air and smoky raw sugar. One the palate, there is a fine balance between sweetness and smoke. It is generously warming and sustained on the finish, with a drying, softly smoky conclusion. It is unmistakably Talisker, amplified and emboldened by its marriage to fine old Manzanilla sherry casks.
