A Stunning Spanish Duo
05 March 2021

We are delighted today to release the 2018 Ossian and Quintaluna wines. A long-established favourite on the Justerini & Brooks list, followers of this leading Nieva-based estate will know that their extremely old-vine Verdejos compete with the best of Spain, and have a proven track record of aging extremely well in bottle. In youth, these are bright, moreish, finely textured whites, going on to develop nutty and more stony nuances over time. 2018 was a cooler, fresher vintage in central Spain, allowing the vines to relax and imbuing the fruit with a fine citrus and cool mineral profile. In our opinion 2018 is the most detailed, filigreed vintage of Ossian to date; a quality level that seems to vindicate the significant investments made by the new owners in rejuvenating the vineyards and installing top of the range winemaking equipment in the cellar. Ossian is a blend of the best, oldest plots, up to a staggering 200 years old, while Quintaluna offers a lighter, more juicy expression perfect for drinking on its own or with food. With spring just around the corner, these two wines absolutely over-deliver on price, refreshment and calm, complex enjoyment. For further endorsement we have reproduced the notes of Josh Raynolds below, published on Vinous Media.    Read More
