Veritably the finest Fino on the market, affirmed as such by the International Wine Challenge, Bodegas Tradición’s complex, thinkers-Fino, is long, crystal-clear and intense. At £35.56 per bottle including duty and VAT it is a super-premium example, but when one considers that the average age is eight years old, and the oldest Sherries in the blend are approaching sixty, it does in fact offer extraordinary value for money. Moreover, this deeply saline, savoury, lemon-kissed Fino speaks to true artisanal production, a far cry from the insipid, mass-produced Sherries that adorn many a supermarket shelf. By focusing on very old casks that have not been chill filtered, blended, stabilized, clarified, sweetened or seen the addition of sulphites, Bodegas Tradición have proved to be the best in the business. Not content with a full complement of first-rate traditional styles, they also occasionally bottle one-off, super-rare, vintage dated single casks that yield truly genre-defining bottles.
The Fino that we offer today is an absolute stunner and the perfect introduction to the wines of Bodegas Tradición. As with all of their Sherries, it is blended, bottled and labelled in small batches entirely by hand. Right now we can’t think of a more historic, life-affirming drink with which to accompany sunlit, quiet moments in the garden…
