A “Beautiful” Clerc Milon
The Mouton Rothschild tasting was a real pinnacle amongst the figurative peaks of the Medoc. Situated between Lafite Rothschild and the Gironde on the Mousset crest, Clerc Milon has been raising the bar under the leadership of Philippe Dhalluin and Jean Emmanuel Danjoy. Too often overlooked in favour of Pauillac’s bigger beasts, the Clerc Milon `22 refuses to be overshadowed. This glorious rendition is redolent with flowers, berries and cracked earth, segueing to an ample mouthful of pure, refined cherry fruit and spices. We were super impressed with this fluid, charming and very sophisticated Clerc, which is perhaps the closest depiction of Mouton to date. We recommend this high flying Fifth Growth wholeheartedly – a quite brilliant wine!

We can also offer the excellent Pastourelle de Clerc Milon. This generous second wine, packed with plump, glossy fruits, is really well constructed, and should provide lots of early drinking pleasure.
Alas, as with so many wines this year, yields are reduced, and we may have to allocate. Please bear with us.
“The 2022 Clerc Milon is beautiful, offering up aromas of cherries, raspberries and plums mingled with hints of pencil shavings and rose petals. Medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, it's taut and lively, with a vibrant core of fruit framed by fine, chalky tannins. Its clay-limestone terroir lends it a distinctive signature that sets it apart from the rest of the portfolio. 93-95/100” – William Kelley, The Wine Advocate
