We are excited to announce that Chateau de Meursault has been awarded "Best in Show" at the 2019 Decanter World Wine awards for not one but two of their wines - Meursault Charmes Dessus 1er Cru 2017 and Pommard Clos des Epenot 1er Cru 2017

Chateau de Meursault seems a league away from where it was only seven years ago, before french entrepreneur Olivier Halley bought the estate in 2012 and set about investing vast sums of money to revive this under-achieving Domaine. The vineyard holdings have always been enviable but for a long time the money or desire to exploit them to the full was missing. Olivier and the estate manager he appointed, Stephane Follin-Arbelet, have radically changed this. Since 2012 the accolades have been flooding in, notably being awarded white and red winemaker of the year in France a couple of years ago. Now they have achieved star status across the channel in the UK too.

Best in Show is no mean feat. You must first win the platinum award (the result of being given 97-100 points) and then all of the platinums are re-tasted to compete for best in show. Of 16,500 wines tasted at the 2019 Decanter competition, 4 Burgundies were given the award - the other two being a Bienvenue Batard and a Chablis Clos. Quite an achievement and well-deserved too!
